How to travel in Malaysia with Php 10,000 budget (Part 2)

If you haven't read my blog about my first day at KL, you can find it here. So imagine strolling for 12 hours, you really need a good and long sleep for the next day. Take it from me, rest well at night so that you can save more energy and will not feel lousy for your next adventure. ;) On our second day, we traveled to the bottom and last stop of the north station, Batu Caves. Though buses are cheaper than transit but the latter is faster since there is no traffic and you can save more time. Batu Cave station is just meters away from the Batu Caves, a Hindu shrine and temple with 200-step stairs and a huge statue of Lord Murugan. There is no entrance fee. Just a note by the way, never wear shorts or mini skirts when you're visiting temples or holy places. Pants, leggings or long skirts will do. A must try to visit and climb the 200 step Batu Cave. Inside the Batu Cave. And yes, another set of stairs. Phew! Me wearing sarong to cover my legs as I was wea

Jalan Petaling (Petaling Street) August 2015. Finally, I got the chance to save and pay for my own fare and pocket money for our one week escapade last two months ago, Malaysia - Singapore - Cebu. The total transportation fares (airplane, bus and train) I spent was almost Php8,000 and that was for three locations with different destinations. From Davao, we headed to Cebu then Cebu to Malaysia on the next day via AirAsia . AirAsia is cheaper when you want to visit Malaysia and Singapore since it is a Malaysian airline. So far, our flight was fine and safe, trust me. (Tip: always try to avail for promo fares of airlines to save more money) The 7pm view at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 Good thing with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is that they have an express train, the fastest train in Southeast Asia, called KLIA Ekspres  which travels from the airport to the KL Sentral (the central station of the country) for 28-30 minutes only compared to the

How To Make Revel Bars Using Cereals

I am really fond of eating revel bars, both chunky and crispy ones. One time when I didn't have enough oats I decided to substitute it with cereals instead. Though the texture is not completely the same with revel bars made from oats yet it tastes good and delicious! My mom and brother even loved it too. :) Ingredients: (Serving: 12-15 slices)                                                                                     For filling: 2 cups of grounded cereals                                           1/2 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup all-purpose flour                                               1 cup condensed milk 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 stick of unsalted butter  2 eggs 1. Apply the usual rule in baking: mix all the dry ingredients first then the liquid ones in a bowl. 2. Mix it thoroughly until the grounded cereals softens. 3. In a pan, pour the cocoa powder and condensed milk and heat it

Discovering the Eden Nature's Park and Resort

Image
December 2014. My December had been filled with adventures. It was just the right moment before I ended up my year 2014. And of course, I would not be leaving the year without discovering the beauty of the well-known Eden Nature's Park and Resort. It is more convenient to bring a car going up there. But for the commuters, ride a jeepney in Roxas Boulevard going to Ulas and advise the driver to drop you off at Ulas intersection. From there, ride a tricycle or habal-habal going up to the Eden Park which is still few kilometers away from the highway.  Before it was open to public, Eden Park had been just a hacienda of the Ayala's in Davao. Bamboos and ferns were the original plantations in the 80-hectare land and eventually, other plants were also added such as the Baguio pine trees, mangosteen, marang and many more to improve the site. As of now, only 65 hectares of it are being utilized as a park. They also added the herbs and spices such as basil and oregano; vegetable

Highland Escapade at Camp Sabros

Image
December 2014. I'd been waiting for that long Christmas holiday break. And at last, just right after the Christmas day, I immediately packed up my things for my new adventure to a place to discover -  CAMP SABROS! Camp Sabros is owned by Mr. Edwin Sacdalan which is located at Sitio Baras, Kapatagan, Digos City. It has been known for its zipline and cable lift amenities and of course, the over viewing Kapatagan area. From Davao City, we rode a coaster or a mini bus of Davao Metro Shuttle bound to Digos City at the Abreeza Ayala Mall bus terminal. Fare is Php 100.00. We started our trip the next day. We headed to the old terminal via tricycle for Php 10.00 where the terminal heading to Kapatagan was also located. As per tricycle driver that we had talked to, motorcycle or habal-habal is the common mode of transportation used by commuters since this is always available in the terminal and it's faster also compared to vans which do not have clear trip schedule. They collec

Day Tour at D'Leonor Inland Resort and Adventure Park

December 2014. Davao City has been slowly evolving into a much progressive city. More resorts, hotels, condominiums, parks and even malls are being built to meet the demands and needs of the people especially those who are coming from outside the city and wished to visit and/or stay here. One of the new inland resorts in the city is the D'Leonor Inland Resort and Adventure Park  which is located at Purok 5, Barangay Communal, Davao City. From Barangay Buhangin, we took a cab and traveled for almost 30-45 minutes as there was an ongoing renovation in the Cabantian road that time. It is highly advisable to take a cab/taxi instead of commuting through jeepneys and tricycles since these are not always available to reach the park. Entrance to the park. Here are the rates (per pax) for the different amenities in the park as of December 2014: Entrance (inclusive of free daytour):          Adult - 50.00, Child - 30.00 Cable car (two way):

How to travel to Japan for FREE?

December 2013.   To be chosen as one of the fifteen delegates to represent the Philippine delegation for the JENESYS 2.0: Japan-ASEAN Student Conference was a wonderful blessing for me and somehow a Christmas gift also for myself since I didn’t only attend a conference but also had the chance to visit some historical places, experience the culture in Japan, met new friends and built new connections. It  was held last December 7 to 16, 2013 at Japan.  This was indeed a rare opportunity for young individuals especially that the event was funded by the Japanese Government. Who would ever thought that I was one among the lucky 180 participants to be part of the remarkable event and met the First Lady Akei Abe of Japan in person. My experience was not just filled with learning but as well as with realizations and understanding. ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation pin. Right after our arrival, a very cold climate welcomed us. We thought we were still in an air-conditioned roo
