Top destinations you should visit when you're in Compostella Valley

The province of Compostella Valley hides a lot of hot and cold springs, as well as waterfalls, that you will surely love to visit. Hot springs are known to provide a lot of benefits. It improves blood circulation, helps reduce stress and pain, and heals skin problems, among others.

Make it a part of your bucket list when you visit Davao City to complete your adventure! I'll be sharing below the list of the top destinations you should visit in ComVal. If you're unsure of the location, you can use Waze and it works even if the internet connection is not good.

1. Kanlawig Hot Spring, Maragusan

This is the first and most accessible man-made hot spring that will welcome you upon entering Maragusan. It's better to travel here early in the morning (like 6 AM) and visit this first in the morning as it is not yet too crowded.

The warm temperature of the hot spring is very relaxing that my hubby and I even wanted to sleep there. The place also has a lot of tall trees around so it somehow brings the nature next to you.

Costs and amenities:
Entrance - Php 50.00/head
Cottages - Php 100-500
Overnight - Php 75.00/head

Cons: What I just don't like in this place is their comfort rooms. They don't have a decent one despite collecting fees from the visitors.

2. Aguakan Cold Spring Resort, Maragusan

If you happen to stay at the ComVal for more days, have the Aguakan Cold Spring as your next destination. This is good to visit by noon or when the sun is high since the water is cold. You can also roam around the resort for a photoshoot as the place is quite wide.

Costs and amenities:
Entrance - Php 40 for adults and Php 25 for children
Small picnic hut - Php 40
Large picnic hut - Php 300
Small cottage - Php 350
Large cottage - Php 1,500
Fish spa - (price not available)

Cons:
- Expect it to be crowded especially during weekends and holidays since this is really famous as a getaway location for families.
- For tables and chairs, they only provide five chairs for each table. So if you're a group of more than five, you have to pay the additional chair at around Php 20-50/each (forgot the exact price).
- They also don't have decent comfort rooms.

3. Haven's Peak Highland Resort, Maragusan

If you want to see the wonderful overview of  ComVal with fresh and cool wind, this place would bring you up above the clouds. This is still located within the center of Maragusan but you have to ride a cable car when going to and from the Haven's Peak.

Costs and amenities:
Entrance - Php 20.00/head
Food - Range within Php 200-500

Cons:
- The way going to the resort is so rough and I would really advise you not to dare of using your car (maybe 4x4 cars will do). Cars can be parked though at the waiting area where you will be riding the cable car.

4. Tagbibinta Falls, Maragusan

The way to Tagbibinta Falls is quite rough and it's at the dead-end of the road. By the time we visited the place, it was still under renovation and improvement but they already do accept guests. Aside from the falls, which is not really spacious, they also made a pool on the other side for a bigger space. The water still comes from the falls so it's fresh.

Please take note that the water here is COLD so brace yourselves before dipping.

Cons: The availability of the cottages and chairs is limited.

5. Lake Leonard, Maco

Lake Leonard is a small freshwater lake in Mount Leonard. It has been considered as one of the gems of the province as the place is full of beauty and very relaxing. Some people swim on the lake but if you don't like stepping on the thick moss below the water, you can also explore the lake thru bamboo rafting.

6. Mainit Sulfuric Hot Spring, Maco

If Tagbibinta Falls' cold water bothered you, here's a hot waterfalls that you'll surely love! This is the solution for your muscle sores and back pains. They also have a massage spa right beside the hot spring for an overall relaxing moment.

Cons: They don't have a decent comfort room.

7. Toyozu Spring Resort, Maco

My father loves dipping in hot springs for his arthritis so we visited another one. It has hot pools for sharing, which is open to the public. It also has pools in cubicles if you want some privacy, which we liked so we can relax properly. This is one of our fave spots in ComVal!

I would highly advise bringing your own food and drinks for your own convenience. Although some of the resorts provide food but we never know if these are always available. We went there on the spot or as walk-ins.

For accommodation: we stayed at the center or in Maragusan. There are a lot of room spaces available there. You can try HCSC Traveller's Home and contact them on Facebook or at this number:0998-886-0052.
