Go at the Little Baguio in Alamada!

Image
Healthy greeny pineapple plants. With freezing temperature and almost zero visibility most of the time, Rangayen in Alamada is not far to be similar with Baguio in Luzon. This has been a good place for pineapple and strawberry plantations. It is also a nice place for hang-outs during three to five in the afternoon. Don't worry, the temperature is tolerable so no need to wear winter-like outfits. Jackets and cap will do. The road is already concreted and it's wide making the trip convenient and the place accessible. Before entering Rangayen. Zero visibility at highway. This is taken at 4 in the afternoon but looks like early in the morning.

Pick Siya-Siya Peak as your next destination in Alamada!

Image
See Alamada up from the sky and feel the cold breeze at Siya-Siya Peak! Known also as Shrine of the Holy Cross, the peak is a common place to visit every holy week. There is a cross placed at the top-bottom of the peak and just below is an unfinished chapel. It's a good place for those who want adventure and a solace place to meditate. With a travel time of almost two hours from Barangay Kitacubong, the way to Sitio Siya-Siya, Barangay Bato is a little bit rough. Not all roads are concreted and some are muddy when it rains. Though vehicles can pass along the way, heavy duty motorcycles are better. For security reasons, it is better to travel during dry season. Going to Sitio Siya-Siya, Barangay Bao Stairway is available from the foot of the hill. The trekking starts halfway to the peak. Some parts of the trail are very steep. Good thing they put railings. The back view of the peak. Few more "hingal" moments. The first thing w

Uncovering Asik-Asik Falls at Alamada, North Cotabato

Image
The Asik-Asik Falls, situated at Sitio Dulao, Upper Dado, Alamada, Cotabato is now one of the tourist spots in Mindanao. The existence of the falls is accidental. Way back then, it was just a huge foresty hill. There was a heavy downpour of rain one time resulting for the overflow of water coming out from the uphill's ground wall which sourced from the river above the hill. Waterways were created after the incident. This made the water to continue to flow creating the curtain-like falls. It is cold and safe to drink. These make Asik-Asik falls an extraordinary one.  From Midsayap to Alamada Ride a jeepney or motorcycle (habal-habal) from the terminal going to Upper Dado. Advise the driver to drop you at the motorcycle terminal. From Upper Dado, ride on a heavy duty motorcycle going to Asik-Asik Falls, Sitio Dulao. From Sitio Dulao to Asik-Asik Falls There are no any roads going to Asik-Asik Falls which can be passed by motorcycles and vehicles. And yes, even 4x4 ve

An Ode to Sunday

Image
"A Sunday well spent brings a week of content." - Old Proverb   Sundays are for drinking tea, attending church, nursing hangovers and rolling over in bed just one more time. They mean cooked breakfasts and half conscious dreaming, washing your hair, contemplating getting dressed, TV on junk because you "start the diet on Monday". Sundays are for recovering, reflecting and preparing. In the winter, Sundays mean big toasty doonas, a rom-com and pyjamas all day long. In the spring, Sundays are for bike rides and discovering new picnic spots. In the summer, Sundays are for eating fruit, basking in the golden sun and dancing in the sparkling waters. Sunday is the language of leisure. It is the day you think your thoughts, read your books, pray your prayers, see your friends, or see nobody at all. Sunday. You can stay.   The content is not mine but I want to post this in my blog to share to people that they may see Sunday as a special day. A special day where

When Davao City and Vietnam Collides at Little Nam

Image
Want to taste authentic Vietnamese cuisine without going out of the country? You can have it here in Davao City and what's make it more interesting is that it doesn't cost too much. It's now one of the locations where foodtrippers stop by - the Little Nam. It is located at Rowi Square, Mamay Road, Angliongto Avenue, Lanang, Davao City (along with Kushiya Restaurant).  The store is just small which can cater less than 50 people. They're open from lunch until night but it's better to eat there by dinner since it's not airconditioned.  They give large servings that's why a one dish can be shared to 2-3 persons and for some is 3-4 persons as what we did.  Little Nam Vietnamese Restaurant at Rowi Square, Mamay Road, Angliongto Avenue, Lanang, Davao City Little Nam Vietnamese Restaurant Food menu Hu Tieu Special for P248. Good for 3-4 persons. It is a rice noodles soup topped with pork tenderloin, shrimp, fishball, mea

How To Make a No-Bake Cheesecake

This is the first time I tried making a cheesecake without baking it. And if you will just follow the instructions right, surely yours will be a successful and yummy one also! I used a 9-inch spring form pan and this is good already for 10-15 persons. I made this during my parents' birthday celebration and everybody loved it! :) All you need are the following. . . For crust: 300g crushed grahams 225g unsalted butter For filling: 2 x 8 oz. cream cheese 300ml all-purpose cream 300ml condensed milk 595g blueberry filling 25g gelatin (white) 10 tbsp. water 1 whole egg Procedures: 1. Mix well the crushed grahams and butter. 2. Place the crushed grahams mixed with butter in the springform pan. Press it evenly into bottom to form a crust. Put in refrigerator while you're making the filling. (Do not store the crust in the freezer, chiller would be fine. Mine got blocked crust when we sliced it. The filling didn't even stick to the crust.) 3

Another hide-out in Davao City: #deq @ Saging Repablik

Image
Saging Repablik is one of the surviving cafes in Davao City. And what I think the reason why is because it's going along with the trends. They renovated their resto converting the small space then into a one-building rustic hangout place for everyone, still on the same location at Tionko Avenue Corner V. Mapa Street , Davao City . I think they even extended their menu to give their customers more options to choose from the food and drink list. From cakes, frappes, meals and desserts, yes, banana fruit is present (well just telling you just incase you're wondering what's with the resto's name) although not really to all food and drinks. The building has two floors: the lower is for those who want an airconditioned room while the upper floor which they call as #deq (it's hashtag deck or just call it deck) is an open space usually for those who want to chill and hangout. Also on its second floor is a mini function room which can cater around 15-20 persons. They&#
